“Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
Friday 3/2 – Melissa, Erica and I compared notes on Leslie Eschbach’s wedding web site. We decided to do up an e-scrapbook for her wedding that will be a work in progress as the wedding date approaches. The site will be www.stelzer-leslieswedding.com and should be fun for her and for us. We’ve already had a fun time figuring out how to organize it and what to include – Melissa did a great job designing the site by incorporating colors and design elements from Leslie’s dress into the graphics.
Erica has been sick as a dog this week with a cold and both ears infected – she’s spent a lot of time in my big chair with a crew of nurses watching over her (Bella – Ginger - #1 and Annabelle).
Thursday 3/1- Rick Hartz called to say Beacon Hill Carmella was the Champion AOB Heifer at the Northwest District Show – Congrats to Dillon and the Hartz family!! My mother came by and brought Griffin for a visit. He has certainly grown a bunch and is turning into a beautiful dog. Ginger was glad to see him.
Sheila came by today to drop of some of Allison’s old show halters and such for the Claremore FFA communal show box. As we were talking in the garage she asked why I had an oriental screen standing up in the garage. Well, I am giving it to Alyssa but in the meantime Richard decided it would make a good windscreen for our outside dog Miss Sally. I had Sheila look around the back side of the screen and there sat Sally in her old wing chair nested in a blanket and screened from the wind by a beautiful painted oriental screen…..Sheila laughed and laughed at the ridiculousness of the situation and told me I am now the current holder of our Hillbilly Animal Owner’s Award. Sheila, Joleta and I have been trading this traveling award for the last several years as we all have utterly ridiculous stories of the things we do with and for our animals. Joleta’s perpetually open window so the cats can come and go, Sheila’s indoor waterfall that the Labs play in, my windscreen for Sally. It’s always something. I have to say though that Sheila has the all time prize for putting Maaaary and Laaaarry (Roxane’s sheep) and Pete (Allison’s goat) in the back of her Bronco one summer so the girls could transport them between Inola and Claremore for spend the nights.
Richard and I went to Darlene’s new restaurant in Oologah with Vincent, Nancy, Lyle and Rae for a Will Rogers Classic after-action meeting. The show went well and final count was 411 entries for the weekend. We discussed the things we thought we could improve for next year and changes that would make the show more fun for the kids.
